Ron Chia was most recently a Senior Portfolio Manager at Complus Asset Management, a multi-billion hedge fund out of Hong Kong and Singapore (2018-2020), as well as at Max Giant Capital (2016-2018), where he ran the investment strategies for the Asian macro hedge fund. Before that, he was Chief Investment Officer of a large family office based out of Hong Kong and Singapore (2015-2016). Prior to this, he held the role of a Senior Portfolio Manager at Investment Company People Republic of China (2011-2014), China’s Sovereign Wealth Fund of SAFE, where he managed foreign currency reserves, emerging market bonds, rates and FX as Head of Emerging Market FX and Rates.
Before joining the fund industry, he was Global Head of Emerging Market Options at Standard Chartered Bank (2008-2011) and sat on the Management Board of the Global Foreign Exchange Committee. Earlier, he traded equity derivatives at both Societe Generale as well as Goldman Sachs (2005-2008), where he was Head of Securitised Derivatives Trading. He started his career at JP Morgan (1999-2005) as a trader in G10 and Asian currency options.
He earned his Bachelor of Finance and Accounting from Nanyang Technological University. He holds both a CFA and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
